RAMKRISHNANAGAR : The scorching heat of the Chaitra month has been eclipsed by a different kind of intensity: the roar of democracy. Despite the blistering sun and dust-filled air, the spirit of the people in Ramkrishnanagar remains unbreakable. As the countdown ends, this border town is transformed into a vibrant festival ground, ready for the high-stakes Assam Assembly Elections.
Precision and Empowerment in Poll Preparation
The administrative rollout has been nothing short of flawless. From the dispatch centers at Karimganj College, polling officials have moved to their designated stations with EVMs and VVPATs in a highly disciplined operation.
Out of the 277 polling stations set up in the constituency, a major highlight is the establishment of 13 all-women polling stations. This initiative stands as a powerful testament to women's empowerment, with female officers managing every aspect of the voting process. Approximately 2,17,500 voters will cast their ballots to decide the political future of 9 candidates. Across the four constituencies of the newly formed Sribhumi district, 9,42,111 voters will determine the fate of 47 candidates.
Security Fortress at the Border
Given its strategic location near the international border, the administration has left no stone unturned. A multi-layered security net, featuring Paramilitary route marches and intensive police 'Naka' checkpoints, has turned the region into a secure zone. Adequate armed forces are stationed at every booth to ensure a peaceful, transparent, and fair election.
The People’s Verdict
From local tea stalls to village squares, the only question on everyone’s lips is: "Who will wear the crown of victory?" The enthusiastic debates and active participation of the citizens have added a unique vitality to this democratic exercise. As the first rays of dawn break tomorrow, the ballot battle will officially begin, shaping the political direction of the region for the next five years.
