The Hailakandi district administration has finalised all arrangements for the much-anticipated counting of votes scheduled for May 4. The counting process for two key assembly constituencies will be conducted at the government-run VMHS School under stringent supervision and multi-tier security.

Detailed Arrangements for Hailakandi and Algapur-Katlicherra

During a press conference on Saturday, the Returning Officer (RO) for 121-Hailakandi LAC, Mansur Ahmed Mazumder, and the RO for 122-Algapur-Katlicherra LAC, Antara Sen, provided a comprehensive breakdown of the counting logistics.

For the Hailakandi constituency, 12 tables have been designated for EVM counting, while 6 tables will handle Postal and Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot (ETPB) papers. The counting for this seat is expected to conclude in 24 rounds.

"We have ensured a transparent and secure environment for the counting process. All personnel have been trained to handle the rounds efficiently," stated the district officials.

Focus on Algapur-Katlicherra Logistics

In the Algapur-Katlicherra segment, which comprises 339 polling stations, the counting will proceed in 25 rounds. Returning Officer Antara Sen confirmed that 14 tables are set for EVMs and 5 tables for postal ballots to ensure a smooth transition between phases.

The vote counting is slated to begin at 8:00 AM on May 4 with postal ballots, followed by EVM counting at 8:30 AM. It is worth noting that the elections for these seats were held on April 9, featuring 12 candidates in Hailakandi and 15 in the Algapur-Katlicherra constituency.

The administration has reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order, urging citizens to follow official updates through verified channels as the results unfold.
