Silchar : In a heartwarming display of community spirit, a voluntary blood donation camp was recently organized to celebrate the birthdays of Abhismita Rudra Gupta and Abhishek Das. The event, held at the Cachar Cancer Hospital's Blood Centre, was spearheaded by the Cachar District Committee of the Barak Valley Voluntary Blood Donors' Forum. The initiative received strong support from the Lions-Leo Silchar Greater and Lions-Leo Silchar Care clubs, turning a personal celebration into a collective act of giving.
Abhismita Rudra Gupta, the daughter of Sabyasachi Rudra Gupta, who serves as the General Secretary of the Forum's Cachar District Committee and Charter President of the Lions Club of Silchar Greater, chose a truly meaningful way to mark her special day. Similarly, Abhishek Das, a dedicated member of the Forum's Cachar District Committee and Service Chairperson of the Lions Club of Silchar Care, joined in this noble cause.
The camp saw a significant turnout of enthusiastic donors. Among those who generously donated blood were Samujjwal Nath, Ashok Nath, Ratnadeep Dutta, Debashish Deb, Rabiul Amin Chowdhury, Biplab Chakraborty, Uddipan Chanda, Abhishek Das, Tapas Das, Jagadish Das, Arkajit Pal, Jagannath Banik, Sangkhayan Pal, Mainak Sharma Purkayastha, Indranil Rudra Gupta, and Sabyasachi Rudra Gupta. Notably, four individuals were first-time donors, taking their first step towards this life-saving practice.
In recognition of their selfless act, each donor was presented with a medal and a certificate from the Forum, along with a separate certificate from the Blood Centre. The Lions and Leo clubs also extended their appreciation, presenting donors with mementos and sweets.
As a special touch, Abhismita and Abhishek cut a birthday cake at the Blood Centre, a moment that beautifully symbolized the fusion of personal joy with community service. The blood collection process was efficiently managed under the expert supervision of Dr. Shabnam Bahar Borbhuiya, the Head of the Blood Centre and Medical Officer, and Dr. Dilwar Hussain, Medical Officer.
Several key members of the Forum were present to offer their support and encouragement, including Central Publicity Secretary Sujoy Nath, Central Office Secretary Prabal Banik, Cachar District Committee Joint Secretary Soumyajyoti Bhattacharya, Publicity Secretary Shubho Chakraborty, and members Ujjwal Dutta and Biprajit Das. Members from the Lions and Leo clubs of Silchar Greater and Silchar Care were also in attendance, inspiring the donors. All who participated extended their best wishes for a bright future to both Abhismita and Abhishek.
