Palanghat (Cachar), 9 August: The Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Knockout Football Tournament, organized by the Mata Sangha Club of Palanghat, kicked off with a high-octane encounter on Friday. In a fiercely contested match that had spectators on the edge of their seats, Clavor House Youngster Club secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory over the resilient Nandagram Boys Club.
The tournament opener was a tactical masterclass from both sides, as the teams battled relentlessly for control from the very first whistle. Before the match began, players from both teams were introduced to the Chief Guest, Dr. Subir Malakar, a distinguished educator and social worker from Dhalai. Following the final whistle, Dr. Malakar presented the 'Man of the Match' trophy to Rajiv Chauhan for his match-winning performance.
