PATHARKANDI : As Assam gears up for the much-anticipated Legislative Assembly Elections, the border constituency of Patharkandi has finalized its preparations for tomorrow's "battle of the ballots." With a "Zero Tolerance" policy against disruption, the administration has placed the entire region under high alert to ensure a transparent and fair voting process.
To maintain law and order, the district authorities have divided the Patharkandi constituency into two specialized zones, each supervised by dedicated Sector Officers. Security has been significantly bolstered at identified sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths, where BSF and Army personnel have been deployed.
To prevent digital malpractice, the administration has installed CCTV cameras in all polling stations. Imposed a strict ban on mobile phones inside the voting booths.
By Wednesday evening, polling officials successfully reached all 229 polling stations across Patharkandi. Moving under heavy security cover from the Karimganj distribution center, teams arrived safely with EVMs and VVPAT machines, marking the completion of the pre-poll logistical phase.
In a move to prevent alcohol-related disturbances, a "Dry Day" has been declared from Tuesday evening until Thursday evening. Local police are on high alert to monitor the area and ensure that no nuisance interferes with the democratic spirit of the election.
The Voter Landscape
A total of 1,78,484 voters are eligible to exercise their franchise in Patharkandi tomorrow. Despite a high-decibel campaign period, the region remained peaceful—a credit to the administration's vigilance. As the sun rises tomorrow, the public will decide which candidate will represent them for the next five years.
The administration has urged all citizens to cast their votes fearlessly and celebrate this "Festival of Democracy" with enthusiasm.
