Entertainment Desk : Since the release of 'Dhurandhar: The Revenge', the film’s high-octane action sequences have become the talk of the town. However, a stunning revelation regarding the film’s climax has now left fans and industry experts in awe. Vishal Tyagi, the film’s SFX (Special Effects) Supervisor, recently disclosed that no CGI (Computer Generated Imagery) was used for the major explosion scenes.
Director Aditya Dhar, known for his penchant for realism, was reportedly adamant about keeping the action as authentic as possible. To achieve this, the entire sequence was meticulously designed to be shot practically, avoiding the digital enhancements common in modern Bollywood action movies.
The 500-Liter Petrol Blast
The most challenging part of the shoot was the tanker explosion in the climax. In an era where most filmmakers rely on post-production effects, Tyagi revealed that they used nearly 500 liters of petrol and high-grade explosives to create a real-life blast. The decision was made to ensure the frames looked undeniably convincing on the big screen.
"Usually, small explosions are amplified using CGI, but we didn't take that route. We triggered a massive real-life blast which was extremely risky but looked incredibly realistic on camera," said Vishal Tyagi in a recent interview.
Safety Challenges for Ranveer and Arjun
The real explosion meant that lead actors Ranveer Singh and Arjun Rampal had to perform in close proximity to the fire. This posed a significant safety challenge for the production team. Special precautions were taken, particularly for Ranveer, to ensure that the heat and flames remained at a safe distance while capturing the intensity of the scene.
The dedication of the crew and the Dhurandhar action team has clearly paid off, as the film continues to receive praise for its "raw and gritty" visual appeal. By prioritizing practical effects over digital shortcuts, Aditya Dhar has set a new benchmark for Indian action cinema in 2026.
