Silchar : In a decisive move toward ensuring administrative precision and electoral integrity within the cooperative sector of Cachar district, the Harinagar Samabay Samity has officially published its draft voter list for the 2026-27 fiscal year. This crucial document is now accessible for public scrutiny at the society’s headquarters located in the Lakhipur subdivision of Assam. The initiative aims to refine the membership registry by addressing discrepancies and facilitating the inclusion of rightful successors, thereby upholding the democratic framework of one of the region’s vital cooperative institutions.
Baharul Islam Laskar, the Secretary of the Harinagar Cooperative Society, communicated via a formal press statement that the rectification window is strictly time-bound. Members and stakeholders are advised to verify the entries to identify any clerical errors or the presence of deceased members' names. To ensure a seamless transition of voting rights, the society has invited formal written applications for corrections and the inclusion of nominees, starting from April 15 with a final closing date of April 30, 2026. This process is essential for maintaining an authentic database ahead of the upcoming administrative cycle in the Barak Valley region.
"The transparency of our cooperative’s electoral process depends on the accuracy of this voter list. We urge all concerned individuals to submit their claims for correction or nominee inclusion with valid supporting documentation before the April 30 deadline, as no further extensions will be granted," stated Secretary Baharul Islam Laskar.
Procedural Guidelines for Nominee Inclusion and Corrections
For the replacement of a deceased member's name with that of a legitimate nominee or legal heir, the Samity has mandated a comprehensive documentation protocol to prevent future legal complications. Applicants are required to provide three recent passport-sized photographs, a self-attested photocopy of the nominee's Voter Identity Card (EPIC), and the official death certificate of the original member. In complex cases where the primary heir is deceased or unavailable, the application must include verified proof of the current claimant’s status as the head of the family, supplemented by No Objection Certificates (NOC) from all other surviving legal successors.
Following the expiration of the deadline on April 30, the society's administrative board will undertake a rigorous verification exercise of all submitted applications. This scrutiny is designed to eliminate duplication and unauthorized entries, ensuring that the final voter list for the 2026-27 session is both authentic and legally robust. Officials from the Harinagar Samabay Samity confirmed that this finalized list will serve as the foundational document for all subsequent cooperative activities and governance within the Lakhipur constituency and the broader Northeast cooperative network.
