Tragedy Strikes an Empty Home

The ill-fated house belonged to Joy Choudhury, a local resident who was away in Silchar at the time, attending to his mother’s medical treatment. The house remained locked as flames began to engulf the structure around 6:00 PM. Witnesses described a harrowing scene as the orange glow of the fire quickly turned into towering infernos, visible from a significant distance.

Local residents were the first to respond, displaying immense courage as they attempted to douse the flames with limited resources. However, the wooden structure and household items fueled the fire, allowing it to spread with uncontrollable speed before professional help could arrive.

An underlying cause for the delay, according to locals, is the absence of a bridge at Anipur.
