SREEBHUMI : In a remarkable academic turnaround, Karimganj district (Sreebhumi) has secured the 16th position in the Assam State School Education Board (SEBA) HSLC Examination 2026. With an impressive pass percentage of 66.26%, the district has emerged as the topper among the three districts of Barak Valley, showcasing a significant leap in educational standards.
While 15 districts performed better across the state, Sreebhumi successfully outpaced 16 other districts. Within the Barak Valley region, Sreebhumi’s performance was unparalleled:
Sreebhumi: 66.26%
Hailakandi: 51.81%
Cachar: 49.13%
The most striking aspect of this year's result is the 18% growth compared to 2025, where the pass rate stood at a meager 48%. This success is being credited to the proactive and strategic interventions by the District Administration.
Key initiatives that drove this success include:
Skill Assessment for 12,000+ Students: Before the final exams, the administration conducted rigorous skill-mapping for all candidates to boost their confidence and identify weak areas. specialized, goal-oriented study materials were prepared and distributed to help students master complex subjects.
For the first time, large-scale PTMs were organized in government schools. These meetings saw massive participation, where parents and teachers analyzed assessment results to provide personalized support to students.
Educational experts believe these grassroots-level reforms have not only improved grades but have also fostered a healthier academic environment in the district.
