Silchar News : In a soulful tribute to the masters of Indian celluloid, Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha organised a special commemorative event titled "Hridoye Rabindranath Chetanaye Unish". Held on Saturday evening at the Madhyasahar Sanskritik Samiti hall, the programme marked the birth anniversary of the legendary Satyajit Ray and the birth centenary of the maestro Ritwik Ghatak.

A Confluence of Music and Cinema

The evening commenced at 6 PM with a warm welcome address by Biswajit Das, President of Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha. The atmosphere was further enriched by the young voices of Kalakshetram, whose musical performance captivated the audience right at the start.

Reflecting on the monumental contributions of the two icons, Manoj Deb, Vice-President of the Mancha, shared insights into their life and works. He set the stage for a deeper exploration of how these filmmakers redefined the global vision of Bengali cinema.

Expert Discussions on Film Aesthetics

The cinematic language of Ray and Ghatak transcended borders, blending social consciousness with a unique aesthetic that continues to inspire filmmakers globally.

A seminar titled "Global Perspectives of Bengali Cinema: Context Satyajit and Ritwik" featured esteemed speakers including Dr. Ajay Ray, retired professor of Cachar College, and noted critic Biswajit Sheel. They delved into the social realism, artistic excellence, and the international impact of these two filmmakers. To honour their contribution to the discourse, the speakers were felicitated with traditional uttariya and mementos.

The event concluded on a high note as the child artists of Kalakshetram performed the iconic song "Bhuter Raja Dilo Bor", leaving the audience enthralled. The entire programme was seamlessly moderated by Ajay Kumar Ray, General Secretary of the Sammilito Sanskritik Mancha.
