BISHALGARH — A pall of gloom descended upon the Ramdas Para area of Banshtali Village under Charilam Block following the tragic death of a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, who drowned in a pond near her residence on Wednesday. The deceased has been identified as Arisha Debbarma.
Details of the Incident
According to family sources, the toddler was playing with her brother in the courtyard of their home. In a momentary lapse of supervision, Arisha managed to wander away and accidentally fell into a nearby pond.
The tragedy came to light when family members noticed her sudden absence and launched a frantic search of the premises. Growing suspicious of the water body adjacent to the house, they conducted a search of the pond, eventually recovering her unresponsive body from the water.

Medical Intervention and Aftermath
The family rushed the child to the Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital in a desperate bid to save her life. However, despite their swift efforts, the attending physician pronounced her "brought dead" upon arrival.
The news of the child’s untimely demise has left the parents devastated and the local community in a state of profound shock. Following the completion of mandatory post-mortem formalities, the authorities handed over the body to the bereaved family for the final rites.
